Your WLPA is led by a Board of Directors from the Whiteoaks Lorne Park neighbourhoods. Our volunteer Board leads the activities and direction of Whiteoaks Lorne Park Community Association. The Board of Directors is elected annually at the Annual General Meeting. We are always looking for new ideas so please consider volunteering. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more.
The following is a list of our current Board of Directors.
Cathy has lived in the Lorne Park area for many years and has been involved in community activities supporting her daughter’s love of dance, music, acting, and school. A small business owner, Cathy provides executive consulting expertise to the financial services industry. She is engaged with several philanthropic organizations and looks forward to bringing her passion to the Board and community.
Bob Atkinson is currently President of MPOWER Energy Solutions… a start-up in the energy storage industry. Prior to that he spent a number of years in Finance/Strategy within Retail and Banking. Bob is relatively new to the area, having lived the last 20 years in the Newmarket area. Bob is looking forward to giving back to his new community and the WLPCA is a great place to start. He has a son in Vancouver and two stepdaughters at home. An avid cyclist and hockey player (still holding onto the dream), Bob is settling in nicely to this wonderful community.
Lynn has lived in the Clarkson/Lorne Park Community for over 33 years with my husband and two sons. Lynn has been very involved throughout those years with many community associations relating to my sons’ activities: school, hockey, soccer and scouts. Following a business career, Lynn is a realtor serving the Lorne Park community and beyond. She is also Chair of the Clarkson Business Improvement Association.
Formerly Senior Vice President/Managing Director of a multi-national advertising agency, Stephanie is now a marketing consultant working in the Lorne Park neighbourhood. Steph, her husband, daughters and their two dogs enjoy everything the community has to offer – from the easy access to lakefront parks to the dining, nightlife and festivals in nearly Clarkson Village and Port Credit. In addition to her role on the board of the Whiteoaks Lorne Park Community Association, Steph volunteers in her daughters’ schools and with the Clarkson Business Improvement Association, and is on the board of the Canadian Cancer Society Annual Spring Garden Tour.
Having lived most of her life in Lorne Park, Janet joins the Directorship of the WLPCA with a strong sense of community. She is raising her children here, has been a very active volunteer in the local schools and her local church community for many years. Up until the last few years, Janet has spent the majority of her career in the financial services sector, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from her varied exposure to retail and commercial banking. She has always had a passion for real estate and decor, and is always excited to work with her clients to enhance their real estate transactions. Janet is very active in the equestrian world, and she and her husband are preparing for their fourth annual Ride to Conquer Cancer, raising funds for cancer research at Princess Margaret Hospital, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world.
Yvette has lived in the Lorne Park area for 15 years with her husband and two sons. She was drawn to this neighbourhood for it’s strong sense of community and wants to maintain and support the interest and spirit of the neighbourhood. Yvette is a Vice President at PIMCO, one of the world’s premier investment managers. She is a member and actively involved with Women in Capital Markets (WCM).
Dave has lived in the Clarkson/Lorne Park Community for 15 years with his wife Yvonne and two children. Dave has been very involved throughout those years in coaching hockey for both his daughter and son’s teams. Now that both children are more independent he is looking forward giving back to his community and sharing his experience with the WhiteOaks, Lorne Park Community Association. Dave is currently a CPA & Chief Financial Officer for the Waterloo Brewing Company.
Ajay has lived in the Clarkson Village / Lorne Park area for the past four years. After starting a family he got involved with the WLPCA as a way to give back to the community and further some of that attributes that drew him & his wife to the area. Professionally Ajay serves as the Director of Environment, Health & Safety with Adient (formerly Johnson Controls).
Sarah recently moved to Lorne Park after being drawn to its vibrant community, history, and plethora of parks and green space. She looks forward to giving back to her new community by participating on the Board. Sarah enjoys exploring local trails along the water and the various shops and restaurants in and around Lorne Park. She has experience volunteering for several community and professional associations and works as a lawyer called to the Bar in both Ontario and New York.
