We have received the following update from Councillor Ras:
I am pleased to inform you that an additional community meeting is being held regarding the proposed Bell Telecommunications Tower Relocation on Wednesday, April 11th from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Clarkson Community Church (formerly Chartwell Baptist Church), 1880 Lakeshore Road West, Mississauga.
Please click here for the community notice that was sent out by Bell to residents prior to the previous meeting. As per the siting protocol, the notification area is 120 metres from the proposed tower location. Contact information for the various parties involved, are also enclosed in the notification.
Telecommunication tower/antenna facilities are exclusively regulated by Federal legislation under the Radiocommunication Act and administered by Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED). Therefore, Provincial legislation such as the Planning Act, including zoning bylaws, does not apply to these facilities. It is important to understand that ISED, while requiring proponents to follow the City of Mississauga Telecommunication Tower/Antenna Facilities Protocol, makes the final decisions on whether or not a tower facility can be constructed. The City of Mississauga can only provide comments to ISED and does not have the authority to stop the construction of a telecommunication tower/antenna facility.
Written submissions should be forwarded to: W5353.bell.info@
Applicants are required to respond to any resident concerns in writing.
Should you require any further information, please contact the office.
